Sophia you are FOUR months old!

IMG_6100

Sophia's fourth month was from August 1st to August 30th.  She turned 4 months on September 1st.

Weight: At her 4 month check up on September 3rd, she was 15.7 lbs (85th percentile) and 27 in long (95th percentile).  Her head is in about the 59th percentile. Growing like a weed!

Health: Still doing great with Health..thank you Lord!  She had a rough day the day after her 4 month check up due to the shots.  She slept fine that night but the next day, I could tell she didn’t feel well, so I stayed home from work.  We gave her some Tylenol because she had a fever and she was extra snuggly.

Sleep: Sleep is still great at night.  She woke up once this month around 5:30 and I went ahead and fed her and woke her up like normal at 7:30. I had a feeling she might wake up that night because she was beginning a Wonder Week and hadn’t been eating well that day. BabyWise suggests that around 4 months babies are able to move to the 4 hour schedule, so we did that around August 20th.  It took her about a week to adjust, but once we adjusted she has been doing great! She now eats four times a day at 7:30, 11:00, 3:00 and 7:00 at night.  She sleeps from about 7:30 pm to 7:30 am, which Mommy and Daddy LOVE!

Development/Social: Sophia met Baby Millie this month! Some friends of ours, Candice and Justin welcomed their baby girl Amelia in August and we brought them some dinner one evening and visited with them. The girls are only about 3 months apart and Candice and I were talking about how at this age, it’s such a big difference, but in a couple of years, you wont even be able to tell. :)

Sophia has also been coming to work with me 2x a week this month and it’s worked out pretty well!  I am able to set up a travel pack and play and she takes her naps in there.  She goes down as soon as we get there in the morning at 9. In between naps, she plays on the activity mat or in her little seat.  She loves getting to see everyone that comes in! We leave at 5 and she goes down as soon as we get home.  It’s working out pretty well for us!

Making some crazy faces while “talking”

Diet: Still 100% nursing.  We are planning on waiting until about 6 months to introduce solids and will be skipping rice/cereal and going straight to veggies.

Clothes: There aren’t many 3 month clothes that fit anymore and we have moved up to 6 month sleepers at night. I’ll admit, I’ve become a little addicted to buying Sophia things on eBay! I have found a few fun UGA things and plenty of rompers for the rest of the warm days.

Baby Gear Loves:  We got you a little baby seat this month as you started being able to support your head a little better.  We still had to put a pillow behind your head after a few minutes, but I think you liked being able to see everything from a different perspective!

In just a couple of weeks, you were getting much better at sitting up in it.

You also love chewing on your Sophie toys! You are a drool monster and are covered in drool whenever you are chewing on them.

I found Sophia an exersaucer on Craigslist that Matt went to pick up one day. I spent about 2 hours deep cleaning it.  I SUCK at deep cleaning things, to that’s probably why it took me so long.  I did it during one of Sophia’s naps..I even brought out the Q-tips! But it was worth it because she LOVES it! We put a blanket behind her because she is still a little bit wobbly, but I am sure she will be a little steadier soon!

Post Partum: I’m still feeling pretty great.  The only thing that I need to mention in the post-partum department is amount of hair I’m loosing is insane! I have upped my Omegaplex and that has helped some.  Hopefully it’ll stop soon, because I am tired of finding it EVERwhere!

Last day of maternity leave

My last day of maternity leave was July 31st and I started my new job on Thursday, August 1st. That Thursday and Friday, Matt watched Sophia while I was at work. I'm SO glad that I started back on a Thursday as I think it made the transition so much easier for me.  I knew that it was just two days and then I'd have the weekend.

On my last day, I really wanted to soak up the time I had with Sophia.  We read, played, and of course took lots of pictures! Here are some of my favorites!

Summary of Week 13

Sophia's thirteenth week was from July 25- July 31
This will be the last weekly post I do...I will be just doing monthly updates from now on. :)
Mean muggin' on our walk.

Weight: I weighed her this week and she is 14.5 lbs according to our scale.
Holy cheeks!
Health: This week, I noticed Sophia had a little blister on the inside of her bottom lip.  Of course I noticed it during bath time the night before I was supposed to go back to work.  I googled around and think it was probably a nursing blister.  It didn't seem to bother her any and it's since almost gone away.

Sleep: We started doing cry it out (CIO) this week.  I didn't really feel comfortable doing it before now and I wanted to wait until she was at least 12 weeks old to start. We did it on Wednesday a little bit and then Matt did it on Thursday.  We talked about it and since I will be taking Sophia to work with me on Mondays and Tuesdays we abandoned CIO. It's not really feasible for me to do it with her when I have her at work, so we decided to keep on what we have been doing and give her about 15-20 mins if she wakes up in the middle of a nap to see if she will soothe herself back to sleep. Most of the time she will make noises halfway through her naps, but she is able to fall back asleep. If she isn't able to fall back asleep, then we go in there and give her the paci.  This has worked pretty well for us and she is starting to get a lot better at self-soothing! In fact, this past weekend, we had two days of perfect naps where we didn't even have to go in to her room at all!

Development/Social:  This week, Sophia had her first play date! She was very excited, as you can see in the video below.  We met up with Danielle and Melissa and their babies Jase and Hollis.  Jase was born exactly a week after Sophia and Hollis was born about 3 weeks after.  It was so fun to see these three together.  Although we weren't able to get all three together for a picture, I know that there will be many play dates in our future!  It will be so much fun when they get a little older and are able to interact more. It will be so fun to watch these three running around after each other. :)

Diet: Still doing great with nursing.  I just love that time with her so much. They are such sweet moments that I will cherish and remember forever.  At our play date, Danielle and Melissa were telling me that they used a Boppy while they were nursing.  The few times I had used it, I was still putting her in a cradle hold and then using the Boppy.  They suggested that I lay her straight down on the Boppy instead and doing that a couple of times has increased her nursing time. Plus it frees up both hands!

Clothes: Starting to transition into 3-6 month clothes and starting to grow out of some of her 0-3 month clothes.

Baby Gear Loves:  Things we use on a daily basis and couldn't live without include the Medela pump, Halo sleep sacks, Sleep Sheep, Baby Einstein activity mat, bouncy chair, Chicco Travel System, Summer Peek Plus monitor. I'm sure there are some that I have forgotten.

Likes: Her O-Ball and Sophie the giraffe, people talking to her, bouncy chair, bath time, and SLEEP!

Post Partum: I started back to work on August 1st.  Like I mentioned, I landed a new gig that is super close to home (I can go home for lunch!) and that allows me to work from home some and also bring her in to work with me.  Between my work schedule and Matt's off days, we have been able to avoid daycare or having to have anyone other than Matt and me watching her during the work week, which makes me a happy Momma!!
