Summary of Week Seven

Sophia's seventh week was from June 13 - June 19

Weight: We go back to the Dr for her 2 month check up on July 1st, so we will know then!
Health: Thankfully, we are still doing great health wise! I have noticed she is starting to get a flat spot on the back of her head.  I've read that it's normal, but I will be sure to ask about it at our next appointment.

Sleep: Sleep was sooo much better this week! We were able to get back to our normal routine, which made this Momma very happy! I never thought that I would be a Mom that schedules her baby's day, but it makes such a difference for how smooth the days and nights go that now I cannot imagine NOT having a schedule. Right now our schedule looks like this:
7:00 AM- Up for the day, diaper change and eat and play
8:00 AM- 10:00 AM- Nap
10:00 AM- Eat, diaper change and play
11:00 AM-1:00 PM- Nap
1:00 PM- Eat, diaper change, and play
2:00 PM- 4:00 PM -Nap
4:00 PM- Eat, diaper change and play
5:00 PM- 7:00 PM -Nap
7:00 Eat, Diaper change and play
8:00-9:30- Nap
9:30 Bath and eat after
10:00 down for the night
At night, she sleeps from 10:00 PM until about 3:00 AM or 4:00 AM.  She eats and goes right back to sleep until 7:00 AM.  Also, on June 19th, Sophia slept through the night for the first time! She slept from 10:00 PM until 7: 00 AM.  I, of course, woke up at 1:00, 3:00 and 5:00...but I was still super excited!  Sophia's first nap (8:00- 10:00 AM) is always her best.  She goes down easy and for the most part, wakes up right after the two hours are over. The other naps are hit or miss.  Some of them she will wake up after about an hour or so, but she has a tendency to wake herself up by breaking out of her swaddle.  I ordered a Miracle Blanket yesterday, so we will see if that helps!

Social: She is still paying attention to us when we're speaking to her. She loves looking around and taking everything in.
Diet: Thankfully, we are still doing great nursing.  She nurses for about 8-10 mins. on one side and about 5 on the other.  This week she has started eat just on one side and then she's done.

Clothes: Still moving into those 3 month clothes.

Baby Gear Loves: We are really loving the Bay Einstein play mat this week! Typically we do about 10-15 mins of tummy time on it and sometimes I lay her on her back to play with the toys that are attached to the top.  She kicks and kicks and loves looking at them.  I have put them on the opposite side that her flat spot is on to encourage her to lay her head on that side some.

Crying: When she's tired or hungry.
Likes: Bath time, mommy and daddy, being talked to, smiling, talking to the frames above her changing table.

Post Partum:  Still feeling great!

Summary of Week Six

Sophia's sixth week was from June 6 - June 12

Weight: Not sure..we go back to the doctor on July 1st, but when Matt and I weighed her this week, she was right at 12 lbs.
Health: Looking back, I'm pretty sure that we went through a growth spurt this week. She still has some baby acne on her cheeks and neck.

Sleep: What's that? Seriously...this week was rough in the sleep department.  Her naps were all over the place and she kept waking up early for them.  She had a really hard time falling asleep and was super duper fussy. A couple of days she woke up 3 different times at night to eat..very exhausting!

Social: This was the week that Sophia really started smiling and responding to us talking to her. She started smiling when we went to go wake her up and it's the sweetest thing ever! I love sitting her in her bouncy chair and just chatting with her..she'll kick her little legs and make the sweetest cooing sounds. It definitely makes an exhausting week worth it!

Diet: Girlfriend was chowing down this week! Instead of being on a 3 hour cycle, she was waking up hungry about an hour earlier.  I just went with it, but she was attached to my boob this entire week!
Clothes: Still growing into the 3 month clothes!

Baby Gear Loves: Same as last week..
Crying: There was a lot of crying this week..she seemed to be hungry and sleepy at the same time and couldn't quite get both of those needs met at the same time.

Likes: Smiling and "talking!"

Post Partum:  Still about 6 lbs under pre-pregnancy weight. Matt and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary this week by going on our first date without baby!

Summary of Week Five

Sophia's fifth week was from May 30 - June 5

Weight: We had our one month check up at the pediatrician on June 3rd and chunky monkey weighed in at 10.8 lbs (85%) and was 22.5 inches long (80%).
At the pediatrician's office
Health: Still doing great! Some baby acne has started to pop up on her sweet little cheeks. We're giving her baths every 3 or so days to help clear it up.
Sleep: We are back to a good sleeping schedule! She is pretty consistent this week..she gets up and about an hour after she wakes, she starts to show signs of sleepiness and she will sleep for about 2 hours. Her hour of awake time is about 45 mins of eating, including the burps and diaper changes and then about 15 mins. of play time.  Some naps she will wake up in the middle of the nap, but for the most part she slept right through this week. My baby whisperer husband has discovered that Sophia likes listening to music to fall asleep, so sometimes we use that to help her fall asleep.
How I found her sleeping one day..
Social: She is getting a lot better at focusing on faces and following objects!

Diet: Still doing great nursing.  She typically eats for about 15 mins on one side and then another 7-8 on the other.
Holding fingers with momma while eating
Clothes: Growing out of more of those NB clothes! Her NB sleepers no longer fit, so we have moved into some 3 month sleepers we have.

Baby Gear Loves: In addition to the regulars, we are getting some use out of her new bouncy chair!

Crying: When she's hungry or tired..

Likes: Her mommy and daddy talking to her!
Post Partum:  I'm about 6 lbs below pregnancy and feeling pretty much back to normal!

Week Four Summary

Sophia's fourth week was from May 23-May 29

Weight: Our next appointment is June 3rd, so we will see how much she has grown!
Health: So thankful we are still super healthy! We are still giving mylicon drops with every feeding cause she gets a little gassy at night.

Sleep: My oh my...the end of week 3 heading into week four was rough in this department! Sophia started having a really difficult time going down for naps during the day.  She would fuss and cry and kept fighting sleep.  When she finally did fall asleep, she was awake 30 mins. later.  There was a lot of frustration and crying this week...I might have even cried. We tried a lot of different things that didn't work this week! We tried the swing, the crib, the swing with the paci, the crib with the paci, nursing to sleep, rocking to sleep, patting her back and saying shhhhh until she fell asleep.  A lot of times, the moment I laid her down, her little eyes popped open and we were wide awake.  It was rough for sure.  Thankfully her night time sleep was still great and most nights she would sleep for 3 or 4 hour stretches.
Social: Sophia is starting to become more aware of her surroundings when she is awake.  This week, her and Matt helped me celebrate my 29th birthday!
Our little family on my birthday celebration!

Three generations of May babies

Me and my sweet girl

Diet: Still 100% breast milk and doing great with nursing. I am starting to build up my frozen supply and have been pumping at least once a day since I came home from the hospital.  Most of my pumping happens at night when she only eats on one side and then is too knocked out to eat on the other, so I will pump the side she doesn't eat on.

Clothes: Some of her newborn sleepers are starting to get a little tight on her in length.

Baby Gear Loves:  MAM pacifiers, Fisher Price snugabunny swing, still loving the swaddles.
Crying: When she hungry and when she gets tired she loves to let us know!
Likes: Eating, sleeping, baths, looking at the ceiling fans all around the house.

Post Partum:  I am still about 4.5 lbs below pre-pregnancy weight. I had my 4 week post partum check up this week and everything went great.  I am still waiting on some stitches to dissolve (tmi??) but other than that I am feeling pretty much back to normal. My appetite is crazy because of breast feeding...I want to eat allll the time! I try and run some errands with Sophia during the week to get us both out of the house and let me tell you...I feel like it is an olympic event! I have to take a shower and get myself ready during one of her naps, make sure everything is all packed up, nurse her when she wakes up, and the put her in the car seat and pack her up and hope that she takes her next nap while we are out.  She gets really hot in the car seat and we only have about 1.5 hours until it's time for her to eat again, so then I am rushing around the store like a mad women trying to get everything I need so I can avoid a baby melt down.  Usually it happens in the car on the way home until we get about 5 mins from the house, which is when she falls asleep.  As soon as we get in the house, she is wide awake and not happy to be in the car seat!

Behind the Scenes- Sophia's Newborn Pictures!

On the Thursday, May 9th we had our wedding photographer, Heidi ( come down and take some newborn pictures of Sophia.  Originally, we were planning on doing some birth pictures because I thought it would be really cool to have that moment documented.  However, once we were in labor and we realized how long and how difficult it was going to be, we texted Heidi to let her know the change in plans. She was so awesome and understanding and we were really excited to have her come over a few days later.

Sophia was definitely feisty for her first session! I'm pretty sure we managed to go through every blanket we owned because she peed or pooped on all of them!  But in the end, Heidi managed to get some great shots! I know that most people reading this blog have already seen these on Facebook, but below are some of my favorites..
